Applause for Robin Cook!

The Queen of Arabia can't just sit back and watch while Arabia is threatened, can she? Darn. (Sometimes I wish I WAS the Queen.)

We've all known for some time now that the majority of the British public opposes the imminent war, and has tried to do everything, from volunteering as human shields to staging mass demonstrations like the one on the 15th of February, which is all the more remarkable because they haven't resorted to unnecessary violence.
Some superpowers should probably take a lesson or two from them.

I don't know what's going to happen, and I wonder if my opinion, or the collective opinion of the British public counts, but this dude certainly wields some clout and furthermore, definitely has the guts.
[For those too lazy to follow up the link, Robin Cook resigned yesterday over failure of the government's policy on Iraq]

Three cheers for Robin Cook!

P.S. Don't you think an Iraqi life is as precious as yours or mine, or an American's or a Brit's? Just a thought, which's probably been bothering quite a few of us.

Girl's Night Out

Oh my god! I'm home (it's kinda late) but I've had one of the most amazing times ever! After a nine-to-four at work, all bleary-eyed from data entry, I went out with my mates for a tango performance (*sigh* made me all dreamy) and THEN for yummi-licious grilled chicken with lemon 'n herb at Nando's and THEN.. off to the cinema with Sadaf and Eunice for a romantic comedy!

I didn't think too much of the comedy but it was fun seeing Sadaf and Eunice so drunk with love after the movie. If you were there, you'd see Sadaf & Eunice hugging each other through the romantic scenes (and might just get the wrong impression, no, they ARE straight). They're probably up in their rooms right now dreaming about falling in love *sigh*. As for me, I think Only You was far better than this movie, I can still remember being drunk with love after watching it, ON VIDEO!

I'd love to tell them to stop dreaming, especially Eunice, who couldn't stop hugging a pillar in our dorms after the movie, dreaming about her wedding, but hey, maybe we do have a chance. :)

P.S. Why do I always end up speaking about love and marriage all the time?
Note to Myself: Let's see how you feel AFTER you're married.

P.P.S. I LOVE Eunice & Sadaf (and the rest of you, in case you felt left out).

Heartache

Oh God, that really hurt! I meant Pakistan's loss against India in the World Cup!
Anyway, have to give credit to the Indians, Sachin was absolutely amazing!

On a lighter note, here's an edited conversation I had with a guy at the International Evening held in our dorms yesterday. I was at the Zimbabwe stall with my Zimbabwean friend and Pakistanis, so much so that it looked like a Zimbabistan stall. Here goes:

Me: Hi! This is the Zimbabwe stall.
Him: Ah! Zambia.
Me: No, Zimbabwe.
Him: Oh.

[I poke my Zimabwean friend to get up and explain about the stall but she just refuses.]

Me: I'm sorry, don't really know much about Zimbabwe.
Him (still hanging around) : Oh, what's your name by the way
Me: Samia.
Him: Hey my name's the same as yours I'm Samir.
Me: You're Samir, I'm Samia, they're both different.
Him: No it's the same, you're Samir, I'm Samir.
Me (grinning and giving up hope): Oh okay.

That was the end of our conversation. He still stayed at the stall smiling at me and left a few minutes later, after which I was subjected to torture from my friends, being accused of seducing the guy from Azerbaijan.
